It’s a privilege to carry on the legacy of my father, Dr.P.Vadamalayan whose mission in life was to serve our community through quality health care and thus founded Vadamalayan Hospital in 1957. With compassion and dedication, he practiced “Evidence based medicine” which brought forth people’s trust in us.

Following his footsteps, our hospital continues to flourish to meet the demands of tremendously emerging health care needs of our society by imbibing advanced technologies and by developing our infrastructure.

The infusion of new talents from around the globe has brought mature clinical and surgical practices to our Hospital. Retaining the momentum gained in 1957, together with the commitment and motivation, the acceleration shall ceaselessly continue.

With a steady increase in the bed strength, and branching out to all the specialties, to mention the latest, a state-of-the-art Cardiothoracic Unit, Vadamalayan Hospitals now stands tall as multi-specialty, tertiary care hospital that provides quality health care to all the segments of the society. To reach the unreached, we have our clinics, pharmacies, and diagnostic centers in the rural areas in and around Madurai.

As a proof for quality, we were awarded with ISO 9001:2000 for Quality Management System. Our Environmental management system in our hospital needs a special mention as we are the first Indian hospital to be awarded ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management System.

We enthusiastically accept the responsibility towards our society and this has lead to various projects and programmes for the welfare of the society. To mention a few, weare the first hospital in south Tamil Nadu to have installed a trauma care centre in a National Highway, a tie-up with Tamil Nadu Government to do heart surgeries for impoverished children. We have schematically planned programmes of free medical camps, blood donation camps round the year.

In future, we have plans to implement the following programmes.

• Identifying Anemia in rural Women and Children
• Preventive health care in rural areas.
